FINDING A STUDIO NAME

The biggest challenge faced while naming this studio actually had less to do with the content i planned to produce and more to do with how I wanted to present myself as an artist.

Everything I create I view first and foremost as an extension of myself. I knew that if I ever owned a studio, I wouldn't want my creativity to be restricted to one genre.

This propensity to "do everything" spilled into my creative portfolio—and the more I added, the more I realized that I didn't need to show everything I do to prove that I could "do everything". I needed to approach my personal brand the way I approach my games: implicitly.

Kai Hopson can do anything—does everything—learns everything.

A FACE FOR
THE NAME

CREATING THE LOGO

The first iteration of the KAIH.DOESTHINGS Studios™ was created when I still thought of myself as a student and hobby artist. Because my logo was text-based, I chose a playful, rounded sans-serif font.

KDT version 1.0 was also created during a time when I was still considering what my career in the gaming industry would look like. I was still very much on the path to gameplay engineering, but after receiving an unexpected call for a technical art position, and the following release of my flagship IP, MODERNITY, I decided to re-evaluate the logo of its parent studio.

The 2.0.0 version uses a sleek, sans-serif font encased in a single elongated square bracket. By making the half-rectangle more square, it became a visual union of design and code—the perfect logo for a technical artist.
